So quick to cut each other down, I can't get behind it There's gotta be a better way? Reports of misery and fear, I can't understand it Why can't they find some good to say? People out for themselves I see Good luck if you are in need Cause each day it's a more selfish society We're in a world of nastiness and hate Keyboard warriors, delusion great Looking around all I see Everyone wants something for free If I only know one thing I know it's not for me Picking others up every chance when I see it A little goes a long way You never know what others are going through, don't assume it Why not help them with their day? Now that everything is gone Will silliness go on? Or will we take the hint, adapt and come back strong? Cause there's a chance for us to heal Take a good long look at everything for real To help the less fortunate out Remember what it's all about Together lets have hope, erase the doubt Doing the right thing Despite the greed So common it is the new norm It's the only way I know Who knows where we could go If we take onboard the things that we are shown Why can't we ever learn Bridge after bridge we continue to burn No matter what good you do That one slip up it will define you It's more than I can bear Trying to still care Doing as I would be done by Right against the grain Trying to never assume to know anyone's pain

Doing what we can day by day Influenced by the best in every way To say that we wish you were here now As things seem so ill fated Our paths crossing at the same time Should be celebrated I'll spend my life inspired by you Keeping you close wondering what you'd do Although I know I never quite can be As cool as you guided by your memory To have seen firsthand how you do it To have seen the way To have witnessed how to treat people And to know what to say In this getting on with things Sometimes you gotta fight With everything that you gave me I'm gonna be alright I'll spend my life inspired by you Keeping you close wondering what you'd do Although I know I never quite can be As cool as you guided by your memory We'll keep on speaking your name with a smile We'll keep on having a laugh like you did I'm not sad anymore As much as I'd love to Do what we used to do So happy we got to And I'm guided by you We'll always wish you were around now But you still are in a way With everything that you gave us We're gonna be OK

If you're a guitar player Then you should play guitar If someone tells you you shouldn't You should send them far Cause their motives don't matter That's who you are And if you listen to them There's one place for you to be Arguing on the internet About conspiracies One thing I ask is that You keep away from me Executives still irrelevant Frontline are kings Remember how quickly things can change Why not do the right thing? Executives still irrelevant Frontline are kings Remember how quickly things can change Why not do the right thing? Seems everyone's on some crusade Or off having a whinge None of which is gonna help us cause Society is unhinged If you are sent by the universe, opportunity There ain't no time for a second thought Take a chance and see No one progressed while snoozing As nice as that can be If you're a story teller You got a yarn to tell If you're a bartender Pour that cold one well If you're a real estate agent They're waiting for you in hell See you in hell

I'll never know why you push your way through When excess room there's always been I'll never know how you let magic Pass by while you check the screen I may not have The answers on demand But in the moment Yes I am It's how we react to what we see In this gala comedy Look just right you'll see the show Most of it don't matter don't you know Those mysteries always had the tightest The tightest grip on my hand You cannot quite put your finger on On what exactly makes it grand It's all about The simple things An open mind For what tomorrow brings I may not know what you did that for But this life I do adore Doing what we need to do If you don't judge me I won't judge you A life of riches in those we know By now the fake all go At the time it can be so strange But it's another turning of the page I'm just glad to be here able to say What in the hell made that person act that way So lucky each and every day Making the most cause it won't always be that way Been through so much With many songs to sing Know where you're going Know where you've been I may not know what you did that for But this life I do adore Doing what we need to do If you don't judge me then I won't judge you A life of riches in those we know By now the fake all go At the time it can be so strange But it's another turning of the page

Wondering where I'm at, curiosity One way to find the answer, talk to me Realistically, would you label something bad Before you ever had the chance to see Focus on who I am over what I'm not The things that matter sometimes are forgot The things you say I've heard them once or thrice before With love and due respect I know them more A somewhat typical man The other side of the land I know whats meant to be will be Give me a chance, to enhance Before signing off check the facts Miscommunication in the way Of what you think of me and what I say The things I want Exactly what you say I need From a rut I try To be free'ed Appearance of it different to thee Another vision each of us does see Realistically who is anyone to see Their's is a better way Impossible I say A somewhat typical man Wants to play in a band But realises he has to eat Give me a chance To enhance Before signing off check the facts From the quiet I ran Because I can There's just too much to do and see Show it to me A somewhat kind of almost typical man OK with being who I am I might not know the next thing I will do Just let me find my way through

Early release of potentially Hurtful info if it comes to be Who could have seen? You treat wherever you are gonna tread You came out premature with what you said No qualms in messing with a person's head More bullshit we've never been fed Destroy everything that's in your path Deploy your inner filth with a filthy wrath Ignore path of destruction you leave Look for the next disaster you conceive Never been easier to communicate But more than ever you procrastinate Don't care if it's not what I'm hoping for Show some respect to those around you more It seems the hard yards get you nowhere A world that rewards a lack of care Half arse your way to that throne up there Despite all that I still choose being fair

about

During the writing and recording of two albums with The Feckers during lockdown in 2020, I looked one day and realised that I had even more songs ready to go, and as fun and inspiring as doing The Feckers is, sometimes doing some tunes on a smaller scale is a good "yin" to the "yang" of that crazy but amazing situation we have created. I might not have looked at these songs again seriously for a couple of years, but with the pandemic hitting and so many friends losing months of work instantly, I thought of Brett, and figured that all things considered, that it might be a good "chance" to do some tunes together. Luckily for me he was keen! This whole "lets do this while we can" line of thinking, which is how I try to approach life anyway, was really apparent after something as big as what happened, and became a big theme to the songs, and meaning of the EP.

It was recorded very quickly mostly during July of 2020, with Brett busting out a track or two at a time, and myself chipping away on the remaining tracks over the remaining weekends in July and August with a plan to mix a song here and there for a while, and release it around July of 2021. Just a nice casual thing that wouldn't interrupt anything else or be too stressful for anyone. When I did revisit things in the leadup to release, I noticed a couple of things I wanted to touch up which happened over the last couple of weeks literally.

One of my favourite moments from the creation of this EP with when the song "Who Could Have Seen" was coming together. It came about from a little idea I captured in my hotel room in Brisbane during a trip there visiting friends and family the previous year, and when it was time to record it for real it was likely going to be a stripped back acoustic song, with maybe a cajon but lots of space. I sent it over to Brett, mentioned this and said "what do you reckon", and he responded something like "give me a couple of hours". I had lawns to mow, so figured I would do that and come back and check my emails. Not too long after I had finished I had a version of the song from him with a drum track AND a totally cool orchestral section that he had mapped out on his keyboard. DAMN!!!

When it came down to those beautiful lines appearing on the song, there was no choice but to have real instruments playing them, which is what led me to coming across the amazing Rick Curran, a great person and player from the UK. Boy did he deliver!!!
